Kenji Review: Is It Safe & Legit, or a Scam?

Posted on |

Whether you’re a small brand, a big business, a marketer or just an influencer, getting those followers to press that ‘follow’ button is a big deal and can be the difference between an average and amazing profile on the gram.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Many bots and growth services are no longer working correctly. Services like this one may have shutdown or received some negative reviews recently that weren't around when we wrote this article. We can't be held responsible for this service.

While it’s tempting to get those followers whichever way you can, it actually does matter how you get them – and Instagram is going to know if you’ve used a bot or fake followers because they’ll red flag you for it. Luckily, there are some companies out there who still like to sell you services that are above board and don’t get you in trouble with Instagram – but sometimes, it’s not easy finding them amongst the others.

Let’s review one and see how they do.

Companies like Kenji are here to service your Instagram needs, from post scheduling to automated engagement. A lot of these companies operate like a virtual personal Instagram assistant, which means they work around the clock for you while you focus on other aspects of the brand. This sounds almost too good to be true – and in a lot of cases, it is.

This is because there are plenty of companies out there that are more than happy to sell their clients fake engagement or use a bot to automate your engagement – both of which are against Instagram’s terms and conditions. This is why it’s important to do your research first, so you know exactly what you’re signing up for when you pick a company.

What is Kenji?

Kenji doesn’t beat around the bush when describing what it does – and they’re pretty confident about it. Not only do they admit that they use a bot for their automated Instagram engagement, but they also claim that they’re the best Instagram bot currently out there.

This is harder to achieve than you may think, which is why we have our doubts around this. Generally speaking, we advise against using Instagram bots to execute your engagement strategy, as they can make your Instagram profile appear spammy.

Getting Started with Kenji

Like with many bot companies out there, Kenji comes with some basic bot features. These include things like hashtag and location targeting, as well as performance analytics and smart targeting, which will depend on the type of service you sign up for. They also claim that they offer a free trial where you don’t have to share your credit card details, which is always a plus.

To get started with Kenji, you will need to connect your Instagram account to their dashboard and tell them about your targeting preferences, which will include any locations or hashtags you’d like them to target for you. Once you’ve done this, you can leave their Instagram bot to do its work and find people that could be interested in your account.

Pros and Cons

Let’s take a look at Kenji’s pros and cons:

  • They include a help page on their website should you need any assistance
  • They are upfront and honest about their price points and plans
  • They have secured their website with https
  • They claim to have connections with successful Instagram sites, which we have yet to confirm
  • Their contact form is suspicious – we’re not sure how good their customer support is going to be
  • They have reviews on their website, but there is a question around their authenticity
  • Their contact page isn’t linked to anything, which raises a red flag

Kenji claims to be affordable, which could be seen as a good thing, but where we’re sitting, it’s not. This is because they claim to have affordable prices because they care about their customers, but we think it’s because they aren’t well known in the industry yet and the quality of their services is pretty low.

They only offer two simple plans, so we think there’s a bit of room for improvement when it comes to both their prices and their plans.

Why Targeted Following?

Targeting the right followers for your account is pretty important – this is going to give you a fighting chance at being seen on Instagram and becoming a well-known presence in general.

If you’re not targeting the right followers, then you may as well not be doing any engagement – because if people visiting your profile aren’t already interested in your niche, then they’re not going to click that ‘follow’ button. Kenji helps you find the best followers for your niche, so you’re not wasting any time or money.

What is Location Targeting?

Location targeting is when you set your preferences to target a specific location where people might be living/located. If you’re a local business in San Francisco, for example, you’re not going to want to target people that live in New York.
You’ll want to make sure that the people Kenji are targeting for you live in the same area as your business so that they can become paying customers.

What is Hashtag Targeting?

Hashtag targeting is interacting with people who are posting pictures that feature hashtags on your hashtag list. Say for example you run a cake making business, and you use the hashtag #cake, Kenji is going to connect people to your account that also use this hashtag, because there’s a good chance that they’re on the lookout for places to buy a cake. This is a great way to attract the right following to your account.

We are typically pretty suspicious when it comes to reviewing Instagram bots, especially if they are brand new to the industry. What’s even more suspicious of Kenji is that they claim to have high profile connections on Instagram already, which is no small feat for a business that’s only been running for a little while.

Unfortunately, we cannot confirm these claims that these guys are connected to successful profiles on Instagram already, which does lead us to question the validity of this claim.

The fact that they are new to the industry makes us almost certain that the reviews on their website aren’t real – it’s just not possible for a company like this to build a reputation so quickly. In fact, their website hasn’t even been tested for safety yet, so for now, we say to avoid these guys if you don’t want to jeopardize your account in any way.
